Drawing from my wealth of experience and the myriad of inquiries I regularly encounter, I present to you my top ten questions - an invaluable reservoir of insight, almost akin to a desert island album playlist. Be assured, these questions are but a mere sample, a glimpse into the vast canvas of knowledge I possess. Should your curiosity persist, I invite you to venture beyond, delving into the richness of my comprehensive FAQ page, albeit a page bereft of picturesque imagery, unlike the tantalizing photographs that feast your eyes at the very moment.
Do You have backup equipment?
I use two Fujifilm X-T5 cameras twinned with an 18mm and 33mm lens for the majority of the day, however I do also keep in my backup a selection of alternative lenses and a spare Fujiflm X-Pro 3 just in case anything does happen to one of the main cameras I am using. I am also a member of Fuji Professional Services where my kit goes to once a year for an annual checkup and also provides me with a faster repair service in the unfortunate event that anything needs repairing.
how late do you stay?
I absolutely love, love, love the energy and vibe of a great dance floor with the music pumping, drinks flowing and everyone just letting loose. I see it as the final chapter of a wedding day and enjoy capturing this final part of your day so much, as a rule of thumb I tend to stay for around an hour after your first dance, however should you want a longer coverage into the evening perhaps for a firework display or just for ultimate party vibes then I do offer a late night coverage option which guarantees me there until the last tequila is sunk.
DO YOU DO GROUP PHOTOGRAPHS?
I am a documentary wedding photographer, so my main focus is to capture images that narrate the beautiful story and essence of your special day. Typically, I aim to take around 3-5 group shots and it would be greatly helpful if you could provide me with a list of the desired group photos ahead of your wedding day.
HOW LONG AFTER THE WEDDING WILL THE PHOTOGRAPHS BE READY?
Your final edited photographs will be ready within 4 to 6 weeks following the wedding. I always aim to try and deliver them sooner than this if possible and you will receive a preview gallery within a week after your wedding date.
Do you require a meal?
Erm, yes please I tend to eat when you are eating as no one really wants pictures with their mouth open chewing down something yummy… I am not too fussy I just don’t like courgette or aubergine.
DOES IT MATTER IF YOU HAVEN’T WORKED AT MY VENUE BEFORE?
Absolutely not at all, every wedding venue is personal and individual to each couple and at different times of year and the weather can play a big part in the light on any given day. However I have had the pleasure of working at many of the popular wedding venues in London and the surrounding areas and if yours is not on my list already rest assured I will factor in time to visit the venue within the timeline of your wedding.
DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH IN COLOUR AND BLACK AND WHITE, DO YOU EDIT ALL OF THE IMAGES?
All my photographs are captured originally in colour, it is only during the post production stages that they might be converted into black and white. On average usually around half of your final images will be in colour and half in black and white, I am happy to supply with a full colour set if required. I also offer a 35mm traditional film option to my digital packages, and can shoot film in either colour or black and white depending on your preference.
HOW MANY IMAGES DO WE GET?
There is no real set rule as this varies depending on which package you have booked and if you decided to have a second photographer. As a rough guide though you will receive between 300-500 images for a typical wedding day and you will of course be assigned unrestricted rights to print and distribute them as you wish. Im thinking hats, mugs and frisbee’s…
what happens if you are unwell?
In the unlikely event that I am unable to photograph your wedding due to unforeseen circumstances, rest assured that I have a network of proficient photographer friends whom I would contact promptly to ensure that your special day is captured with the same level of skill and dedication that I strive to provide.
what do you wear?
This question always confuses me because I usually opt for dark and discreet clothing choices. Typically, I wear dark black jeans with a shirt, along with trainers. On a warm summer day, I might switch to dark shorts paired with a short-sleeve shirt. If I happen to be at a destination wedding in a tropical location, I might even go for flip flops. Recently, I even participated in a themed wedding party where I needed to dress up to fit in seamlessly. Although it was a fun experience, the warmth of the evening made working a bit more challenging. It goes to show that sometimes practicality must also be considered in such situations.
Lets talk Cameras, what I use and why…
At the beginning of 2024, my anticipation for Fujifilm's possible release of the X-Pro 4 was met with a blend of excitement and curiosity. The brand's enigmatic pre-conference monochrome video stirred speculation, only to reveal the launch of the X100VI instead of the awaited model.
I have been a professional photographer for several years, encountering various cameras and brands along the way, including the nostalgic experience of using film cameras. Not the video-making kind, but the classic 35mm SLR with its charm. While using the Sony A7iii from 2019 into early 2020 for weddings yielded pleasing results, I sensed a certain clinical quality in my work. In November 2019, I reignited my love for Fuji Film cameras by acquiring the X100F, equipped with a fixed 23mm f/2 lens. This compact camera, fondly termed my “party cam,” has become my constant companion, ready for any moment worth capturing. Photography isn't just a profession; it's my passion, prompting me to always have a camera at hand. The beauty of the X100F lies in its simplicity - no need to swap lenses, just point, shoot, and witness moments translate effortlessly onto my phone with remarkable quality. Moreover, this camera became a precious tool in capturing final memories with my mother, allowing me to preserve her essence through poignant photographs before her health declined further.
Faced with the realization that my trusted Fujifilm X-Pro 3 cameras were showing signs of aging, a decision loomed before me. Upon experimenting with the new X-T5, I was pleasantly surprised by the remarkable outcomes it delivered. Despite my initial reservations about its design departure from the X-Pro series, the camera's sensor performance was truly exceptional. Its white balance accuracy, swift autofocus capabilities, and seamless compatibility with the XF18mm and XF33mm lenses were striking. While I had enjoyed using the GFX system for photography, I found its speed and bulkiness somewhat limiting for my style as a documentary wedding photographer, requiring a more discreet and agile approach.
In January 2023, I made a significant decision to expand my gear collection by incorporating another Fujfilm camera system. I took the leap and rented the GFX50SII paired with a 63mm F/2.8 lens for a couple of pre-wedding sessions. The outcomes astounded me, sparking a desire to eventually make a purchase. The sensor's remarkable light interpretation and expansive dynamic range truly enhance the depth of field, particularly in couple portraits. Opting for the GFX50R—a camera with a rangefinder layout akin to the x-pro3—has remarkably elevated the quality of my work this year. While the GFX may operate a tad slower in terms of focus, this deliberate pace has heightened my awareness of composition, light play, and the meticulous elimination of any unwanted gaps within the frame.
I recently completed my final full wedding shoot in the second week of March 2020 Subsequently, my Sony cameras remained untouched, gathering dust, as I gravitated towards relying on my dependable X100F. The intimate connection I felt with my photography while using this compact yet proficient camera was remarkable. It sparked a thought process within me. I decided to reach out to Fuji Film to explore their latest camera offerings. After consulting with them, I opted to rent an X-Pro3 along with my go-to wedding lenses - a 23mm F/1.4 (35mm equivalent) and a 56mm F/1.2 (85mm equivalent). The moment I cradled the X-Pro3, its robust, lightweight, and ergonomic design impressed me. Embracing the viewfinder over the screen reignited a sense of nostalgia reminiscent of my youth, harkening back to the joy of framing the perfect shot with my beloved Nikon FM2.
For the remaining dates that I had booked in for 2020 and moving forward into 2021, I decided to utilise two Fuji Film X-pro3 cameras. Rest assured, I understand the importance of being prepared, so I will always carry an additional emergency camera body for any unforeseen circumstances. Additionally, my trusty X100F continues to hold a special place in my gear setup as it symbolizes the beginning of my transition to Fujifilm cameras.
The photographs below are a selection taken on either my X100F, X-pro3 or an X-T5.
25 Pre Wedding Photographs and why you should consider a pre wedding session
So what exactly happens…. well usually we will grab a coffee or a beer and go through the plans for your wedding face to face, you know like we used to and then for up to 45 minutes take a little wander and make some pictures. I have found that this is a really great way to build the relationship between us and allows you both to gain an understanding of what to expect on your wedding day and tick it off the list of nervous unknowns plus you’ll get some beautifully curated portraits
Your wedding day is an extraordinary occasion, brimming with love, joy, and cherished moments that you and your partner will hold dear for a lifetime. It's right up there with other significant milestones, like the birth of your children or that adorable selfie you took on your very first date. And let's not forget the excitement of receiving the keys to your first place together. These memories are precious, and they deserve to be captured beautifully.
However, not everyone feels completely at ease in front of the camera. The mere thought of being photographed can sometimes be overwhelming, and that's perfectly okay. But when the photographs hold such importance, it might be a good idea to consider booking a pre-wedding shoot. This opportunity allows you to get a taste of what to expect on the big day, helping to calm any nerves and ensure that you feel comfortable and prepared.
So, let me tell you a bit about what typically happens during a pre-wedding shoot. Usually, we'll meet up for a coffee or perhaps even a refreshing beer and discuss the plans for your wedding face to face. Yes, just like the good old days! During this meeting, we'll get to know each other better and delve into the details of your special day.
Afterwards, we'll embark on a leisurely stroll, capturing delightful moments along the way. The shoot normally lasts about 45 minutes and takes place in different locations across London. I carefully select these locales to reflect your unique personalities, allowing your true essence to shine through in every photograph we capture. Some popular spots for pre-wedding shoots include Borough Market, Richmond Park, The Barbican Centre, Battersea Park and Leadenhall Market. In case the weather isn't cooperating, don't fret—I always have alternative indoor locations ready.
The pre-wedding shoot serves multiple purposes. Firstly, it helps build a strong bond and connection between us, ensuring that we work together seamlessly on your wedding day. Additionally, it gives you the chance to experience what it's like to be in front of the camera, providing valuable insight into what you can expect and helping to alleviate any apprehension. And as an added bonus, you'll receive a stunning collection of beautifully curated portraits, showcasing your love and excitement in the lead-up to your big day.
These photographs can be used in various ways. Some couples choose to feature them on their wedding websites, setting the tone for their celebration and giving guests a glimpse into their love story. Others may opt to print out a few favorites and strategically place them around their wedding venue, adding a personal touch to the decor. Another creative idea is to use them as table card numbers, allowing your guests to connect faces with names and generating a sense of familiarity and warmth.
Adding a pre-wedding shoot to your photography package is a wonderful way to break the ice, feel more relaxed, and ultimately focus on the main task at hand—getting hitched and celebrating this incredible milestone with your loved ones. If you feel like this experience could benefit you, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I'm here to guide you through this exciting journey and capture your special moments in the most authentic and beautiful way.
Fulham palace wedding photography - Caroline and Alex
Caroline and Alex had the most epic of weddings at Fulham palace in London with some extra sprinkles thrown in for good measure… Caroline spent the morning getting ready at the Landmark hotel in London near Marylebone but had just a few minutes to show off her dress in the sublime dining room at the Landmark.
Not settling for one ceremony, Caroline and Alex chose to have an additional intimate blessing in Fulham Palace’s Chapel which is just a fabulous setting. As a great surprise for all the guests and especially the best man, out of nowhere came some sublime singing waiters who were incredibly entertaining and finished with an epic “time of your life” showstopper. All that was left was to go and cut some epic shapes on the dance floor…
Heres a little slideshow of some of my personal highlights from a superb wedding day at Fulham Palace.
Farnham Castle Wedding Photographer - Jade and Guy
What a corker or a wedding day this was at Farnham Castle in Surrey, the weather was absolutely perfect and as Jade and Guy were getting ready for the day suppliers rallied around Farnham Castle to ensure that everything was on point.
What a corker or a wedding day this was at Farnham Castle in Surrey, the weather was absolutely perfect and as Jade and Guy were getting ready for the day suppliers rallied around Farnham Castle to ensure that everything was on point. Once the happy couple had finished getting ready they took the short walk to Farnham Castle’s Norman chapel where Jade walked in with a wonderful string accompaniment. During the cocktail hour guests were spoilt with an amazing magician who dazzled guests and the adults had to hold themselves back from having to much fun on the bouncy castle. The surprises didn’t stop there… after the speeches the bride had arranged for some singing waiters and later on in the evening an ice luge to drink shots through. This Farnham Castle wedding was such a fun and action packed day and I had such a fun time capturing their story…
Here are some of my favourite captures from my day at Farnham Castle
Surrey Wedding Photographer - Tanya and Rajan - Surrey National Golf Club
This post is all about their HIndu ceremony at Surrey National Golf Club back at the start of May 2023. Both the bride and groom looked sensational and as tradition would serve Rajan arrived to the sound of the dhol drummers surrounded by his family before entering the mandap and awaiting for Tanya.
I first photographed Tanya and Rajan a couple of months before their wedding on the streets of London, Carnaby to be precise for their pre wedding session and it was apparent straight away that they were perfect together and I couldn’t wait to photograph their weddings… This post is all about their HIndu ceremony at Surrey National Golf Club back at the start of May 2023. They had decided to get married at the Everyman theatre screen on the green in Islington and boy what a wonderful London wedding spot this is, the seats were full, the screen was ready and so were Roisin and Niall. Unbeknown to me Niall had prepared a little movie montage for everyone to watch after the ceremony, a little mash up of some of their favourite shows blended into one, including the bit with Monica from friends with a turkey on her head! A short bus ride to The Depot an awesome wedding venue near Holloway where everyone was treated to some fab canapés, drinks and very witty speeches. All that was left was for these two to take to the dance floor and get the party started which they truly did. This wedding encapsulated everything I love about being a London wedding photographer, it was such a personal and unique wedding and was an absolute blast to have captured for these two. Here are just a few snippets of their day…

Jay and Spikes wedding day was so so much fun, full of laughter and utilised all the charm and charisma of getting married at The Ned. The boys got ready together before heading to The Nickel Bar for a cheeky drink whilst the ladies spent the morning sipping bubbles and getting wedding ready. A perfect couple shared vows and laughs throughout the day, well into their speeches and definitely into the evening. I simply loved photographing these two along with their friends and family and there was such a great vibe to the whole day which you can feel as you look through their pictures.

Wow, what an absolutely incredible year 2022 turned out to be! Firstly, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the simply amazing couples who entrusted me with the task of capturing and preserving their most cherished moments over the course of the past twelve months. It has been an absolute privilege to witness and document these special occasions.
I have been unbelievably fortunate to have had the opportunity to photograph breathtaking moments at some of the most renowned and beloved wedding venues across the UK.
From the elegant Brunswick House and the historic Marylebone Town Hall to the charming Italian Greyhound and the luxurious Ned Hotel, each wedding venue has left an indelible impression on me. However, if I were to choose a personal favourite, it would have to be The Mount Without – a venue that holds a special place in my heart.
The past year has brought me closer than ever to my couples, and I am incredibly grateful for that. With a reduced number of weddings to shoot, I had the invaluable opportunity to truly engage with them and gain a deeper understanding of their unique stories. In the process, I discovered that my photographs strive to answer three fundamental questions – Who? What? Why? I believe that by capturing the essence of these questions, I am able to create images that authentically reflect the love and emotions shared by each couple.
I cannot emphasise enough how much I absolutely love my job. Being a part of every wedding that I have the privilege to photograph is truly an honour. The joy and excitement that fills the air, the nervous yet eager smiles, the tender glances, and the overflowing emotions – every element of these celebrations fills my heart with immense happiness.
As I look ahead to 2023, I am filled with anticipation for the moments yet to be captured, the stories waiting to unfold. I am eager to build upon the incredible experiences of the past year and continue to create meaningful and timeless memories for all the wonderful couples I will have the pleasure of working with.
But enough of me rambling on! Click the video below to witness some of the best captures from the remarkable year that was 2022. It is a visual testament that showcases the beauty and love shared by each couple, accompanied by a few kind words that truly warmed my heart.

I dont need to tell you that as a wedding photographer this fills me with a lot of excitement for an opportunity to create something truly unique and very documentary wedding indeed. Once at the town hall the couple went upstairs with just their witnesses for a wonderful intimate ceremony and then emerged from Marylebone town hall as husband and wife to be showered in confetti on the infamous steps to the town hall. We then went for a short walk around the London cobbled streets around Marylebone Town hall to take a few portraits of these two stunning people. Now when it comes to confetti I absolutely love, love, love a good confetti photograph, however this was with bells on as J & S descended the stairs in Fortnums customers in store were invited to drop flower petals onto the newlyweds as well it was truly magical. Speeches and a sensational grazing station kept the guests entertained until it was time to partay and my goodness these guys really knew how to.

A short break before things ramped up a gear and with the couple both being architects they decided to host an awesome evening on the rooftop of The Department Store in Brixton, a truly unique place with some of the best textures I have been able to photograph this year. An awesome party was had by everyone and it was such a pleasure to have been part of Aidan and Charlottes wedding.. oh and of course meet the Derry girls too…

Meg and her bridesmaids spent the morning getting ready at The Hoxton London sipping on champagne before taking the short journey to WIltons music hall where so much beauty unfolded. The Fabulous Tootsies sang a wonderful song during which an almost “ Love Actually “ moment occured when guests in the audience stood up to join in. There were gold confetti canons, tears, emotion and then to top it off one of the best brass bands out the Old Dirty Brasstards to keep everyone on the dance floor until it was time to go home or on to the after party…
Here are a select few from what was just a perfect day.
Jess and Tom - The Ned Hotel
Picture the scene, a beautifully sunny March day, a stunning couple and of course The Ned hotel as a backdrop for all the magic to happen. Jess and Tom’s opulent London wedding was just perfect, she spent the morning with her bridesmaids getting pampered, having her hair done and enjoying a glass of bubbles.. Tom however was engaged in the usual male behaviour of getting ready in about 15 minutes by popping a suit on and sorting out his tie, of course a drink or two was consumed.

All that was left for these two beautiful people was to head back in to the Saloon and party the night away which believe me they really did do.
UK Documentary Wedding Photogtaphy - The end of 2021…at last
I sit here in February safe in the knowledge that I can finally draw a close to 2021 and I have spent some time thinking about how to conclude the last 8 months of working in the wedding industry. The highs, the lows and all the bits in between 2021 really did push me to breaking to point a few times and I was just very fortunate to have amazing friends around me along with the support of my fabulous couples..
So the all important numbers… 51, not as many as some fellow wedding photographers however way way too many especially given it was in such a concentrated amount of time. Which means 2022 I am restricting the amount I will be photographing and keeping this solid at 35 weddings.
Some of my most memorable moments of 2021 in no particular order have to be… hmm firstly tears, so many really deep and heartfelt moments, I think having to have postponed your wedding, two and sometimes three times built up the emotion to such overwhelming levels that it was near impossible to not cry at some of the love on display! The return of the first dance and the frantic hand flap ushering guests on to the dance floor… god how I have missed capturing the dance floor fun at a wedding. Last year also gave me some fab opportunities to capture some wedding elements that I hadn’t really photographed before including fireworks, smoke grenades and multiple weddings with sparklers, simply put a lot of fun!
On a personal level I was honoured to have been nominated for The Rangefinder 30 Rising Stars 2021 and whilst I did not win I was still incredibly overwhelmed to have been shortlisted with some of the best of the best international wedding photographers. I worked closely with two amazing London wedding venues, Brunswick House and The Ned Hotel both offering some unique photographic opportunities. Whilst also ticking off a few new venues across the united kingdom including Hampstead Pergola, Caswell House, The Asylum Chapel, Devonshire Terrace, The Shard, Fortnum and Mason, The Zetter Townhouse, The Barbican Conservatory and Brinsop Court.
Now it wouldn’t be right to not acknowledge this featured toast from most wedding speeches…”To absent friends and family” . The COVID19 pandemic was felt all around the world and I think it was apparent at some of last years weddings, with emotions high already to then not have loved ones with you on your special day whether having to self isolate, unable to travel due to restrictions or sadly no longer with us…. was hard to ignore. To all my couples, friends and family who have loved and lost in the last 18 months I truly hope that you find the strength, love and support that you sometimes need and remember thats its alright to not be okay.
So the main event below… a beautifully created slideshow showcasing some of my favourite wedding photographs from 2021, I am really looking forward to what 2022 has in store.
London Wedding Photography - Mike and Katie - The Hurlingham Club
Mike and Katie got married at the historic Hurlingham Club in London, an idyllic location in Fulham on the banks of the river Thames. Katie spent the morning getting ready at her aunt’s house nearby and then travelled in style with her father in his beautiful Triumph TR7.

Meanwhile Mike and his groomsmen got ready at The Hurlingham Club before greeting guests and family members in the conservatory at The Hurlingham. As the sun shone down through the glass roof all eyes were on the happy couple as they exchanged vows and then rings before a cheeky kiss.
The Hurlingham’s beautifully landscaped gardens were looking great and after a confetti shower for the bride and groom the drinks were flowing and canapes were being served. The speeches were heartfelt with a few witty remarks to rounds of golf before the bride and groom took to the dance floor for their first dance.
Here are a few of my favourite images from their day.
